SEL Instruction
Social and Emotional Learning Instruction
At Collier Middle School, we are dedicated to evolving our curriculum to meet the diverse needs of our students. We have integrated Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) into our curriculum, with our SEL Instructor available from Monday to Thursday to work with students. Each week, our SEL Instructor visits multiple classrooms to lead activities that focus on mindfulness, self-awareness, emotional regulation, confidence, resiliency, friendships, and perspective-taking. These activities include yoga, meditation, team-building games, and more.
This curriculum expansion aims to enhance our students' mindfulness, perspective-taking, friendships, confidence, and resiliency skills through their participation. The activities are designed to provide students with useful tools they can use anywhere, such as seated yoga and breathing exercises. It also serves as a powerful opportunity for teachers and staff to engage alongside their students.
