The ACHIEVE Program

Therapeutic services play a central role in ACHIEVE. Staff, including a consulting BCBA and in classroom psychologist, provide ongoing emotional and behavioral support. Daily morning meetings and afternoon reflection periods with Occupational Therapy and Speech Therapy staff help students process emotions, develop social skills, and manage stress. ACHIEVE also emphasizes partnership and citizenship, encouraging teamwork and open communication among students and staff.

Students in the ACHIEVE Program participate in vocational training, career exploration, and community visits, focusing on real-world life skills. SEL activities, mindfulness practices, and relaxation techniques further promote emotional well-being and stress management, preparing students for future success in both personal and professional areas.

The ACHIEVE Program integrates multisensory techniques and project-based learning to create a dynamic and supportive educational environment. Small class sizes, sensory-friendly seating, fidget tools, and regular breaks are provided to support focus and engagement. In addition, staff uses hands-on learning to engage students in topics like field trips and sports, opposed to traditional classroom settings that have not worked for students in the past.

Students participate in hands-on activities that include sports, physical education at the YMCA, and field trips to historical sites such as Twinlights and the Vietnam War Memorial.
